Perry Halkitis, Dean & Hunterdon Professor, Rutgers School of Public Health, and ASPPH’s current board chair, engaged in a discussion with For Your Institution (FYI) host Gil Rogers regarding the trajectory of public health. Dr. Halkitis also discussed his role as board chair of ASPPH, explaining ASPPH’s mission and highlighting the importance of ASPPH in addressing current public health challenges, and ensuring that educational programs remain relevant and responsive to societal needs.
Dr. Halkitis delved into the importance of equipping public health professionals with technological proficiency and enhancing their interpersonal competencies. The conversation also dove into the challenges faced by public health workers amidst the COVID-19 crisis and the possibility of even greater hurdles in potential future pandemics.
