The Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is accepting applications for its Global Infectious Disease Research Training Award program. This initiative aims to strengthen institutional capacity for research and training in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with a focus on infectious diseases that are endemic or of major public health importance. Applications are due August 6, 2025.
Eligible U.S. and LMIC institutions are encouraged to partner and propose long-term training programs that can build sustainable expertise and leadership in LMICs to tackle critical infectious disease threats. Research areas of interest include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and emerging infections with epidemic potential.
Many ASPPH-member institutions have strong global health programs and longstanding partnerships in LMICs, making them well-positioned to apply for this funding and contribute to building a robust global infectious disease workforce.
