The ASPPH Riegelman Excellence Award recognizes an outstanding undergraduate public health educator. The award is given annually to a full-time faculty member who has made exemplary efforts to start or sustain an undergraduate program, collaborated with community partners and other disciplines, and garnered respect and enthusiasm from students.

Criteria for Award


Nominations should include a description of the nominee’s outstanding contributions in one or more of the following:

  • A demonstration of innovative leadership for enhancing excellence, health equity, and inclusiveness in undergraduate academic public health education. 
  • Exemplary efforts to start or sustain an undergraduate program. 
  • Innovative teaching techniques using advanced technology. 
  • Relationships with practice partners in the community. 
  • Collaboration with other disciplines. 
  • Relationships with CEPH-accredited graduate schools or programs of public health; and 
  • Teacher evaluations by students 

Eligibility


Nominees must be full-time faculty with a primary appointment at an Undergraduate Network for Academic Public Health member program. The nominee must have the following: 

 

  • A primary appointment in an ASPPH Undergraduate Network for Academic Public Health -member school or program of public health 
  • A demonstrated and notable record of success (more than 10 years in graduate and/or undergraduate public health education) in educating baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral, and/or post-doctoral students.
