ASPPH looks forward to connecting with colleagues and public health professionals at the American Public Health Association (APHA) 2025 Annual Meeting & Expo, taking place November 2-5 in Washington, DC. This year’s theme, Making the Public’s Health a National Priority, underscores the importance of investing in prevention and our nation’s health while reaffirming that health is a human right. ASPPH will host a wide range of sessions focused on academic-practice linkages, innovation in undergraduate academic public health, healthy longevity, and misinformation.
Key ASPPH Sessions
ASPPH is proud to highlight several key sessions that reflect our commitment to advancing public health scholarship and practice:
- Misinformation Session
The session Misinformation, Public Health, and the Fight for Truth: Strategies for Action will examine the critical role public health professionals play in combating the spread of false information. Speakers, including epidemiologist Dr. Katelyn Jetelina, Madeline Kapur of de Beaumont Foundation, Dean Boris Lushniak of the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Dr. Brinleigh Murphy-Reuter of Science to People, and Dean Melinda Pettigrew of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, will share strategies for strengthening trust, promoting science-based messaging, and equipping public health leaders with tools to navigate today’s complex information landscape. - Healthy Longevity Session
ASPPH Healthy Longevity Framework: Aligning Public Health to Successfully Advance Healthspan will highlight how academic public health can drive innovations in policy and practice to extend years lived in good health. This session, with members of the ASPPH Healthy Longevity Task Force, will focus on building cross-sector collaborations and evidence-based strategies to improve population health across the lifespan. - Undergraduate Session
ASPPH’s session on Innovation in Undergraduate Academic Public Health showcases innovative approaches to integrating design thinking and creativity into undergraduate public health education. It will feature programs from the University of Memphis, ASPPH’s annual conference, and George Washington University. Panelists will share lessons learned and practical strategies to inspire educators and administrators to foster innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in future public health leaders.
Academic and Practice Linkages in Public Health (APLPH) Caucus
In addition to ASPPH-led programming, the Academic and Practice Linkages in Public Health (APLPH) Caucus, proudly sponsored by ASPPH in partnership with the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) and the Public Health Foundation (PHF), will host a robust lineup of oral and poster sessions covering topics such as Indigenous-led scholarship, data modernization, governmental public health partnerships, and community engagement.
The majority of ASPPH sessions at APHA are free to attend, and while APHA registration is encouraged, it is not required for many sessions.
