The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is in the process of reviewing and revising the Core Competencies, and this virtual meeting is an opportunity for current and prospective students of public health and other disciplines that contribute to population health to provide feedback on how the Core Competencies can better serve the public health workforce.

Can community-based work be done without physically being in the community? Drs. Derreth and Wear will discuss the coursework they designed in which public health students develop and utilize skills in evaluation in partnership with Baltimore community-based organizations. Further, we will explore the innovative instructional framework employed in this course - Critical Online Service-learning (COSL). COSL is based upon three principles, dialogic communication, cross-contextual reflections, and positioning oneself as an ally.
