Education for Public Health 2030: Transformation to Meet Health Needs in a Changing World

FTF 2030 at 2024 ASPPH Annual Meeting

Co-authors of the Framing the Future 2030 Frontiers in Public Health article.

ASPPH launched “Framing the Future 2030: Education for Public Health” (FTF 2030) in 2020, inspiring our members, some of whom were already engaged in similar efforts, to transform the educational landscape of the next generation of public health professionals. As explained in our recent Frontiers in Public Health article, “Education for public health 2030: transformation to meet health needs in a changing world”, FTF 2030 is aimed at developing an education system resilient to the dynamic socio-political landscape and it emphasizes scientific inquiry, research-education-practice nexus, elimination of inequities, and anti-racism principles.

Join us at our 2024 ASPPH Annual Meeting for Academic Public Health March 21-23, 2024 as we follow the launch of the expert panel reports with presentations, discussion, and engagement with all members and partners in attendance.

The FTF 2030 initiative will enable schools and programs of public health to foster diverse, inclusive teaching communities and prepare their graduates with strong population health perspectives. FTF 2030’s steering committee, driven by the need for structural change, focuses on three expert panels: (1) Inclusive excellence through an anti-racism lens, (2) transformative approaches to teaching and learning, and (3) expanding the reach, visibility, and impact of the field of academic public health. The project, informed by recent events like COVID-19 and social justice movements, seeks to revitalize academic public health’s role in addressing global health challenges and inequities. Collaboration is key in this effort and we invite all vested partners to co-develop an education system that champions health equity globally.
