ASPPH Advances Efforts to Tackle Health Disparities

ASPPH Chief External Relations and Advocacy Officer Tim Leshan recently represented ASPPH at a national forum focused on addressing health disparities, convening leaders from academia, government, and community organizations to explore the root causes of health inequities and drive actionable solutions.

Hosted by Hofstra University’s School of Health Professions and Human Services, From Awareness to Action: Tackling Disparities in Public Health provided a critical platform for collaboration and exchange across sectors.

Leshan participated in a panel discussion on public policy and advocacy, where he highlighted ASPPH’s strong commitment to advancing health for all through strategic policy engagement, investment in the public health workforce, and the championing of community-driven initiatives. Emphasizing the urgent need for collective action, Leshan noted, “Now is the time everyone in public health should become an advocate at all levels of government.”

Forums like this are essential to building momentum toward dismantling the systemic barriers that drive health disparities. ASPPH appreciates the leadership of all involved in fostering these important conversations and proudly recognizes the outstanding efforts of our members across the country who are advancing health for all every day.
