Earlier this month, ASPPH submitted comments in response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Updated Policy Guidance for Subaward/Consortium Written Agreements, Section 15.2. The proposed policy change will require US grantees working with partners in other countries to disclose additional information. Our comments state, “We are deeply concerned that the updated policy for consortium/subaward agreements on NIH-funded grants will be overly burdensome for investigators and hinder advancements in global health. The new proposed requirements will harm global public health research and training programs, impose unnecessary costs on academic institutions, and increase the regulatory burden on investigators.” The planned effective date of this guidance is October 1, 2023.
