ASPPH Releases Competencies for Climate and Health Concentration

The ASPPH Task Force on Climate Change and Health is pleased to announce the release of a new set of competencies designed to support the development of climate and health curricula within Master of Public Health (MPH) programs. This initiative addresses a core recommendation outlined in Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health — to provide curricular resources for faculty at schools and programs of public health.

The competencies were developed through a comprehensive review and vetting process led by members of the task force and additional experts in the field. They are intended as a resource for faculty designing or enhancing MPH concentrations focused on climate and health.

Faculty and academic leaders are invited to review the competency list and learn more about the development process in the newly published one-pager, ASPPH Climate Change and Health Task Force Concentration Competencies for the MPH.

ASPPH encourages schools and programs to adapt the competencies to fit their unique institutional contexts and educational missions. For more information about this initiative and ASPPH’s broader efforts to advance academic public health’s response to the climate crisis, please visit our Climate Change and Health webpage.
