We are thrilled to announce that the Undergraduate Network for Academic Public Health (Network) is refocused on Innovation, Collaboration, and Education across two-and four-year institutions offering public health degrees. ASPPH has been convening leaders in the undergraduate public health space since 2009, and we have taken this moment to redefine and reemphasize our efforts to support institutions that educate students pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree.
The reimagined Network supports the critical role of undergraduate education in preparing the public health workforce. Undergraduate Network members simply need to reconfirm their membership to stay engaged in it. New members interested in joining us can use our Request to Join form.
Our updated webpage outlines the expanded benefits, but a few we want to highlight include:
- New Undergraduate Leadership Retreat: The first Undergraduate Leadership Retreat will be held virtually on September 14, 2023 from 12:00 PM ET – 5:30 PM ET. Registration is now open, along with the agenda. This event is limited to one individual per institution, who would serve as the undergraduate primary representative (Associate or Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education, Program Director, or similar.)
- New Domain Areas: Network membership includes all faculty, staff, and administrators from participating institutions. There are five key domains for members to engage with each other in the areas of Leadership, Education, Pathways, Student Success, and Career Development.
- New Exclusive Grant Opportunities: Network members who join by September 1 will have exclusive access to apply for a new grant enhancing education and development for public health undergraduate education.
- Discounted Rates to ASPPH’s Academic Public Health Conference: Network members will receive a discounted rate to attend the ASPPH Annual Meeting, March 21-23, 2024, which will fully integrate undergraduate and graduate public health education topics.
- Drivers of Change: Network members will participate in an active group that innovates and moves academic public health forward in education, practice, research, and advocacy.
