Earlier this week, Dr. Laura Magaña, President & CEO of ASPPH, represented ASPPH at the World Health Organization (WHO) meeting, The Contributions of Health Professions to the Climate Change & Health Agenda. The meeting explored the role and contributions of the health professions and their representative associations, councils, institutions, and schools to climate action within the global climate and health agenda.
During the meeting, Dr. Magaña shared ASPPH’s, as well as the Global Network for Academic Public Health’s (GNAPH), work on climate change and health, a critical issue for public health. We are encouraged by the passing of the WHO resolution on climate change and health and look forward to further engagement on this important agenda, as climate change is a key initiative of ASPPH as detailed in our Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health.
