ASPPH President and CEO, Dr. Laura Magaña, and Chief of External Relations and Advocacy, Tim Leshan represented ASPPH at the Yale Global Health Symposium on April 11 organized by the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH). The event brought together leaders in public health, academia, and policy to discuss the future of global health amid emerging global challenges.

ASPPH President and CEO Dr. Laura Magaña delivered remarks highlighting the interconnectedness of public health across issues such as pandemics, climate change, and chronic diseases. She reaffirmed ASPPH’s commitment to global engagement through initiatives like the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH) and called on the public health community to renew its focus on prevention, collaboration, and innovation.
Tim Leshan, ASPPH Chief of External Relations and Advocacy, also presented at the symposium, providing an overview of the evolving political landscape and its implications for global health research, education, and funding. His remarks emphasized the critical need for sustained advocacy efforts to safeguard public health priorities.
