ASPPH is pleased that many of our members and ASPPH data contributed to a special Maternal and Child Health Journal (MCHJ) issue titled Developing and Strengthening the Current and Future MCH Public Health Workforce: Building Capacity, Aligning Systems and Addressing Emerging Challenges. The special issue, developed in collaboration with the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and the National MCH Workforce Development Center, highlights original research, commentaries, innovations, and policy & program evaluations for state public health agencies, academic institutions, and community-based organizations.
Each of the 25 manuscripts in this special issue is available with no account login needed to facilitate broad access for public health practitioners and other partners.
Led by researchers from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and de Beaumont Foundation, Christine Plepys, research & data analytics lead for ASPPH, wrote an article entitled, “Training the MCH workforce: the Time for Change is now.” This article utilized ASPPH’s Data Center and other resources to “characterize the current Maternal and Child Health (MCH) workforce, MCH program applicants and graduates, and describe findings within a national context to devise elements of a recruitment and retention strategy.”
