ASPPH is proud to share the key achievements detailed in our 2025 Annual Report, Persevering Together: Advancing Academic Public Health in Challenging Times. Guided by our Strategic Plan 2030, ASPPH and our members strengthened our collective ability to address complex public health challenges, support students and professionals, and advance equity and resilience across academic public health.
Advancing Solutions to Critical Public Health Challenges
ASPPH led major efforts to confront society’s most pressing issues. We released the Climate and Health MPH Concentration Competencies and collaborated with global partners on research published in The Lancet Planetary Health. Through expanded international engagement with partners like Africa CDC, ASPPH strengthened global alignment in public health education and workforce development. We continued to address gun violence as a national public health crisis and advanced healthy longevity through new frameworks focused on prevention and equity.
We also made significant strides in equity-driven innovation with the launch of the IDEA Institute, a new hub that advances inclusive, equity-centered approaches to teaching, leadership, and institutional transformation. Within this work came the launch of ARIE, an AI-powered resource supporting inclusive excellence. We also expanded research and advocacy-informed policy, deepened member engagement, and elevated ASPPH’s national voice on the importance of academic public health.
Championing Workforce Development
This year marked important progress in building a future-ready public health workforce. ASPPH expanded Public Health Fellowships, advanced the Certified in Disease Intervention pathway, and introduced new student-facing opportunities through TIPH fairs, innovation labs, and targeted programming. The relaunch of the Center for Public Health Workforce Development provided enhanced tools and resources for practice-based learning.
Advancing Excellence and Innovation in Teaching, Research, and Practice
ASPPH advanced excellence in teaching, research, and practice by strengthening accreditation efforts, expanding interprofessional education, and fostering faculty collaboration. New initiatives, including a new Faculty Forum, expanded undergraduate programming and enhanced pedagogy, innovation, and connections across the academic public health community.
Being the Leading Voice and Authority on Academic Public Health
ASPPH remained a leading authority in national dialogue, influencing policy and strengthening public trust via the creation of communications campaigns that elevated public health stories and expanded awareness. The release of ASPPH’s Broken Lifelines report received national attention and informed policy conversations. Advocacy efforts secured key victories, including the reversal of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) proposed Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs cap.
Positioning ASPPH for Long-Term Success and Sustainability
In 2025, ASPPH modernized its operations to ensure long-term sustainability through new partnerships, including those with the de Beaumont Foundation and AWS, which supported innovation in infodemiology and AI equity, respectively. Technology investments, including ChatGPT Enterprise and AWS Developer Immersion Day, strengthened efficiency and ethical innovation. ASPPH also welcomed a new Chief Operating Officer and expanded staff capacity across the organization.
