The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) recently released their newest 2022 Profile Study report. Key findings show that seven in 10 local health departments were targeted with harassment because of COVID-19 response activities. Another study found that three in 10 local public health staff were considering leaving their position in 2021, in part due to harassment.
NACCHO conducts the National Profile of Local Health Departments (commonly referred to as the “Profile Study”) every three years as a census of local health departments (LHDs). This study represents the largest, most reliable data source on LHDs and describes the funding, staffing, governance, and activities of LHDs across the US.
ASPPH, a proud partner and supporter of NACCHO, has also developed a Center for Public Health Workforce Development to address the crisis of the dwindling of the public health workforce and has expressed concern in a statement this past summer.
