Last week, ASPPH joined leaders from the Prevention Research Center (PRC) Network in sharing a letter to House and Senate Appropriations leaders, as well as key authorization committees, urging sustained support for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) PRC Program.
For nearly 40 years, the PRC Network has served as a critical national resource, translating public health research into effective, evidence-based interventions that improve nutrition, promote physical activity, and prevent chronic disease across diverse communities. The PRC Program is a long-standing priority in ASPPH’s advocacy efforts, and continued federal investment is essential to its success.
Recent CDC workforce reductions pose a significant threat to the stability of the PRC Network and could undermine ongoing progress in chronic disease prevention and community health research.
As the nation continues to face complex public health challenges, robust support for the PRC Program remains vital to sustaining innovation and advancing health equity nationwide.
