A recent study featured in Health Affairs revealed a concerning trend: public health professionals are leaving government positions in the US at a rapid rate. If this trend continues, up to half of the governmental public health workforce could leave by 2025. ASPPH, recognizing the urgency of this issue, released a statement discussing how we are addressing recruitment and retention issues for the governmental public health workforce.

We will also continue collaborating with our State and local public health partners to advance the governmental public health workforce in a sustained fashion.
