Working with several community partners, we are developing a space, called the CoDesign Commons, for older adults to be active participants in the development of health interventions, products, and policies. Often, things are designed for older adults—but we aim to instead facilitate working with older adults to shape the future of aging and wellbeing in the community. For example, we have teams working to connect dementia caregivers to community resources and to increase walkability of local parks. These older adults are helping solve major health challenges in our local area, while also building community among themselves. This is the essence of public health— building partnerships to support the wellbeing of our friends and neighbors as they age.
