My background is in psychology, so I always wanted to help people. I took my first intro to public health class right as I was coming out of graduate school and I was like “Wow this seems to answer a lot of the things that we’ve been asking questions about how do we help not only the person but the environment that they’re in?” And so I was intrigued and I wanted to study more so I decided to do my PhD in public health and because of that inspiration now I actually teach undergraduate students about why public health makes sense and so I’ve loved working in communities helping communities to be the best that they can be but also learning from communities about how we can actually be the best professionals and the best practitioners we can be everybody gets involved everybody is part of the solution and together we could actually make an effective change
