Academic public health is a huge part of the public health ecosystem because we educate the professionals who work in the field, we do the research that builds the scientific knowledge base – the evidence base – for public health that helps practitioners do their jobs more effectively and more efficiently… it helps us formulate good policy based on evidence but we are also deeply and historically engaged with communities and so we also bring to the table not just data and science but the voices of the community.
