2022 ASPPH Summer Interns – Highlight

ASPPH is delighted to introduce our 2022 summer interns. These young professionals will be working closely with our team to help improve public health. We can’t wait to share with you the important work they continue to do throughout the summer! See below for the interns’ introductions in their own words.

Vanessa Akwada – George Washington University
My intern role at ASPPH is recruitment and outreach, where I am currently working on the 2022-2023 Digital Viewbook and Finance Your Degree scholarship page for students.

Dazhanae Houston – University of Virginia
I am assisting with our Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention (TFGVP) and Gun Violence Social Media Campaign. Through these efforts, I will help to spread information and public health solutions surrounding the gun violence public health crisis and provide updates on what ASPPH members have been working on to help with this crisis.

Kwadwo Amoako-Boadu – The City College of New York (CCNY)
During my time at ASPPH, I will be assisting in refining ASPPH Data Dictionaries and Data Glossaries, data collection for ASPPH Annual Reporting, and conducting external Public Health Education Research.

Natalie Southerland – Virginia Tech
I am a TIPH Global Intern, assisting with the evaluation of the first TIPH Global cohort. I am also helping plan engagement strategies and providing recommendations to help improve the program for the second cohort.
