We are pleased to announce that we are honoring Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) with ASPPH’s Special Recognition Award for his exceptional contributions to the introduction and passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA).
BSCA is a landmark US federal law that will lead to the implementation of several changes to the mental health system, school safety programs, and to gun safety law. ASPPH believes that a public health approach to the firearm violence problem can contribute to the evolving national movement that focuses on addressing gun violence.
The ASPPH Special Recognition Award recognizes individuals who have made exemplary policy contributions in areas impacting public health. The Award was established to acknowledge and encourage the championship of critical public health policy issues, both nationally and globally.
Please join us in congratulating Senator Murphy during our Annual Meeting awards luncheon on March 16.
