Earlier this year, ASPPH worked with its Advocacy Advisory Committee to finalize federal funding priorities for fiscal year (FY) 2026. Several ASPPH members reinforced these priorities during ASPPH’s 2025 Hill Day earlier this week. The Hill Day provided ASPPH members with the opportunity to discuss the critical need to invest in public health and highlight ASPPH’s FY 2026 appropriations requests.
Hill Day participants also cited a letter written by ASPPH addressed to Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS-ED) Appropriations Leaders. Nearly 70 participants, including ASPPH deans, directors, faculty, students, and alumni met with their congressional delegations to spread awareness about federal funding that supports academic public health.
ASPPH’s requests span several key public health agencies and programs including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
We encourage all ASPPH members to reach out to their congressional offices, in coordination with your government relations staff, to reinforce these requests, especially those relevant to your institution.
