ASPPH is proud to join the National Academy of Medicine (NAM)’s Initiative to Accelerate the National Climate and Health Movement. The NAM initiative builds and expands upon the groundswell of health-related organizations addressing climate and health. The goal is to accelerate climate action across the health sector to make further progress in improving the health of communities across the US and beyond that are already grappling with devastating effects from excessive heat and air pollution, increased extreme weather events, and more.
ASPPH joins the NAM initiative as part of our focus on climate change and health. Our framework, Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health, lays out principles and recommendations for ASPPH and schools and programs of public health to act through education and training, research, practice, and policy and advocacy.
As this Important work is underway, the health sector is primed to make changes to address the health impacts of climate change and any health-related organization, regardless of where it is in its sustainability journey, is encouraged to join us in accelerating the national climate and health movement.
