What inspired you to study public health?
My childhood experiences in navigating the health care system, such as having to translate for my parents during medical/doctor visits, encouraged me to pursue health. However, when I learned about public health and the social determinants of health, I knew I wanted to pursue public health and focus on ways to improve the health of my communities.
What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?
Pursuing higher education and obtaining my MPH!
What do you hope to accomplish in your career?
I hope to inspire others who come from similar backgrounds as me, become a professor, and continue to give back to my community!
Advice:
Public health is so broad and that’s the beauty of is. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clarification about what public health work/positions means to people!
