One of the key goals of the NIH Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program is to fill the gap and reduce the time between scientific discovery and the translation of research findings into action — into the hands of health practitioners and policy makers. This presentation will give the example of tobacco research and research on e-cigarette use to demonstrate the power of translational research to improve the health of the population and discuss the controversies, communications, and ways forward to reduce the harms of tobacco.
