Yale: Professor Discusses Emerging Infectious Diseases in Beijing

Yale School of Public Health professor, Dr. Albert Ko, spoke at the Yale Center Beijing on Thursday about emerging infectious diseases around the globe and possible solutions.

While many advances have made toward improving health worldwide over the last century, rapid urbanization, globalization, climate change and an increasingly mobile society have created conditions for the spread of new infectious disease threats, exemplified by outbreaks such as SARS, Ebola and the recent Zika pandemic.

Dr. Ko, described how changing physical and social environments have shaped the emergence of infectious diseases. He also discussed how researchers at Yale are applying innovation and novel analytical approaches to develop solutions for these new global health threats.

Dr.Ko addressed more than 50 people, many of them students and medical practitioners.
