Washington Faculty Member Wins National Award for Leadership in Maternal and Child Health

Dr. Daniel Enquobahrie, from the University of Washington School of Public Health, received the 2017 Loretta P. Lacey Academic Leadership Award for excellence in teaching and leadership in maternal and child health (MCH). The award was presented by the Association of Teachers of Maternal and Child Health at an event in Atlanta on November 5.

Dr. Enquobahrie is associate professor in the department of epidemiology and adjunct associate professor in the department of health services. He was named director of the University of Washington’s interdisciplinary Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science and Practice in January. One of only 13 centers in the United States, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau-funded center stands out for its rigorous academic training, mentorship and support for public health students and professionals working in MCH.

Dr. Enquobahrie is well-known for his passions in teaching and mentorship, as well as his ability to communicate his knowledge and enthusiasm for maternal and child health. He is also a highly sought after master’s and doctoral student committee chair.
