UTHealth Professor Elected to APHA Executive Board

Dr. Catherine L. Troisi, from the University of Texas School of Public, has been elected to the American Public Health Association (APHA) executive board.

The executive board is a 24-member body that serves on behalf of the APHA’s governing council, and meets regularly throughout the year to discuss and direct association business. Dr. Troisi is one of 12 members elected by the APHA governing council at the association’s annual meeting and expo Nov. 4 – 8. She will serve a four-year term.

“Catherine has a distinguished record of leadership at UTHealth School of Public Health, and I know she will bring valuable insight to the APHA’s executive board,” says Dr. Susan Tortolero Emery, senior associate dean for academic and research affairs. “We congratulate her as she helps public health professionals increase their impact, and works to improve our nation’s health.”

Dr. Troisi has served as chair of the APHA’s Action Board, which helps coordinate the association’s advocacy activities and improves participation in advocacy initiatives among the association’s leadership bodies, and was co-chair of the APHA’s Joint Policy Committee. She is associate professor of management, policy and community health, and epidemiology at UTHealth School of Public Health, and coordinates the leadership studies concentration.
