UCLA: Former Dean Honored for Impact on Academic Public Health

Dr. Linda Rosenstock, former dean of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, will receive the Welch-Rose Award for Distinguished Service to Academic Public Health from the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health on March 21.

Dr. Rosenstock served as dean from November 2000 until July 2012 and is currently a professor of health policy and management and environmental health sciences in the Fielding School and professor of medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She’s an expert in occupational and environmental health, global public health and science policy. Prior to serving as dean, Dr. Rosenstock headed the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), for which she received the presidential distinguished executive rank award.

The association selects one person every year to receive the award. The honor “is awarded annually to an individual for extraordinary contributions to the academic public health community.”
