South Florida Professor Appointed to the FIVPAC

USF College of Public Health’s Dr. Karen Liller has been appointed to the Florida Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Council (FIVPAC) as the research committee chair for a three-year term which began on August 1.

The FIVPAC was created to provide injury prevention research and practice expertise and to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the 2014–2016 Florida Injury Prevention State Plan. Appointed council and goal team members are assigned to one of the state plan’s prioritized goals.

This group of approximately 50 individuals includes representatives from key state agencies, the medical community, injury prevention advocacy groups and non-profit agencies, university systems, research facilities, county health departments, laypersons, law enforcement, health educators and injury prevention specialists.

“This council will play a vital role in the continued development and evolution of Florida’s injury and violence prevention programs and also ensure the progress of injury and violence initiatives and goals statewide,” said FIVPAC Division Director Wayne North. “We believe that your [Liller’s] expertise and work on this Council will serve well to advance these efforts.”
