Public Health Reports: Prevention Research at the National Institutes of Health


In a recent article in Public Health Reports, Dr. David Murray, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) associate director for prevention and the director of the NIH Office of Disease Prevention, provided an overview of disease prevention research at NIH, including the analysis of the NIH prevention research portfolio, examples of prevention research activities at NIH, federal collaborations, challenges, and the role of the NIH Office of Disease Prevention. Research in health promotion and disease prevention is one of three key targets in the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan to advance opportunities in biomedical research–alongside research in fundamental science and treatments and cures.
