Northwestern: Study – Adverse Childhood Experiences and the Onset of Chronic Disease in Young Adulthood

Mr. Stan Sonu, a student in the Northwestern MPH program, published his culminating experience paper in Preventive Medicine. The paper was written in collaboration with Dr. Joe Feinglass, and colleagues. The study analyzes patterns of association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adult health disaggregated by age. It found that young adults with high ACE scores are at increased risk of early-onset chronic disease. Trauma-informed care and ACEs prevention are crucial public health priorities.
