Launch Webinar – Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health

October 26, 2022 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

ASPPH is pleased to announce the release of Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public. This framework, developed by the ASPPH Task Force on Climate Change and Health, will serve as the foundation for ASPPH’s future climate change and health initiatives. We hope it will be a call to action for academic public health around the world.

As part of the framework launch, we hosted a webinar featuring a panel discussion about the framework with climate change experts and which provided an opportunity to discuss some of the topics and challenges identified. View the recording of the framework launch.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe at least three of the negative health impacts of climate change
  • Discuss the roles of academic public health in responding to the climate change and health crisis

Description

Last year, recognizing the urgency of addressing climate change and its profound impacts on health, ASPPH convened a climate change and health task force. This task force, comprised of prominent faculty from across our member Schools and Programs of Public Health (SPPH), collaborated to develop a framework on climate change and health. The final report, Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health contains both an evidence-based analysis of the status and needs to address climate change in academic public health, as well as a set of recommendations for implementation by SPPH and for ASPPH. This webinar will serve to share the framework and provide an opportunity to discuss some of the topics and challenges it identifies.
