Ms. Amy Rhoades, MPH student in the University of Nevada, Reno School of Community Health Sciences, assisted in publishing an article entitled “Syphilis and Congenital Syphilis” for Washoe County’s Epi News. The article addressed the rise of primary, secondary, and congenital syphilis in Washoe County and all of Nevada and discussed how it is transmitted. The article highlighted the risk factors for contraction of the infection and the best practices for prevention and treatment. The article was distributed to providers who subscribe.
Ms. Rhoades is a second-year graduate student in the Social and Behavioral Health track. She completed her internship at Washoe County Health District, where she assisted in researching and developing this article.
