University of Maryland School of Public Health Associate Professor Manouchehr “Mitch” Mokhtari has been appointed editor for the Journal of Family and Economic Issues’ special issue on “Affordable Health Care.”
The Journal of Family and Economic Issues (JFEI) is an interdisciplinary publication that examines the intricate relationship between the family and its economic environment. The “Affordable Health Care” special issue, to be published in March of 2016, will focus on important topics in family health, health finance, and other economic issues. The publication will feature original research papers relevant to the role of individuals, families, government, and providers in improving access to health care and promoting healthier families and communities.
Dr. Mokhtari, associate professor in the department of family science, has extensive experience in economic development, fiscal reform, and health economics, with a focus on reducing health care costs and regulatory competition in health insurance markets. He has served in a leadership role in donor-funded projects in thirteen countries and has been recognized for his contributions to economic development in countries in transition.
