Johns Hopkins: Bloomberg School Alumna Selected as de Beaumont Foundation’s 40 Under 40 in Public Health

Ms. Jessica Gehle, an alumna of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, has been selected as a de Beaumont Foundation’s 40 Under 40 in Public Health. Ms. Gehle received her master of public health from the Bloomberg School in 2009.

Ms. Gehle started her public health career in STD (sexually transmitted disease) prevention at Washington State Department of Health, where she shaped disease investigation and surveillance efforts for several local health jurisdictions. She currently is the environmental health director at Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, where she prioritizes quality improvement, customer service, community engagement, health equity, and policy, systems, and environmental changes to advance the department’s vision of Healthy People in Healthy Communities.

The de Beaumont Foundation created 40 Under 40 in Public Health to recognize leaders whose creativity and innovation are strengthening communities across the country. The Foundation sought nominations for leaders who recognize that health is more than health care and who are showing leadership in making communities healthier.
