In congratulating the graduates, interim Dean Keith Mueller referenced their role in making public health visible and improving the world around us.
“It’s often said that when public health is working, it’s invisible, because public health prevents problems before they happen, said Dr. Mueller. “Clean drinking water, safer and healthier foods, motor vehicle safety, and accessible, high-quality health care are just a few examples of public health in action. Many day-to-day benefits that we all too often take for granted are possible thanks to public health.”
“I commend you for your commitment and passion for your chosen profession and for improving the world around you. I have every confidence that each of you will use the skills you have gained to think critically and creatively in pursuing the public health path you have chosen.”
Dr. Mueller also recognized Ms. Kaitlin Emrich and Ms. Ann Garvey as the recipients of the College’s 2016 Outstanding Alumni Awards. These awards recognize College of Public Health alumni who have made distinguished contributions to the field of public health and demonstrated a strong interest and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the college.Tags: Iowa
