Georgia State Trains Peer Guides to Get HIV-positive People Into Care

In the Atlanta metropolitan area, more than 40 percent of all HIV-positive people are not in medical care, clearly a public health crisis for the community. Peer Guides are increasingly acknowledged as a critical component in efforts to reach those who are not in care.


The Linkage to Care Peer Guide Training Program, run by the School of Public Health at Georgia State University, is designed to prepare Peer Guides to help link to medical care those who have been recently diagnosed as HIV-positive, as well as those who know their status but have fallen out of care.
