Mr. Maxwell has been campus administrator at Shannondale of Maryville Continuing Care Retirement Community for the last 16 years. As campus administrator, he oversees 66 independent living homes, 90 independent living apartments, a 59 bed assisted living facility and a 44 bed Skilled Care Facility. Mr. Maxwell is also the vice president administrator for Presbyterian Homes of Tennessee, Inc.

When asked about his time at ETSU, Mr. Maxwell stated, “The classroom instruction and education that I received at East Tennessee State University and especially in the department of health has helped me to be the Long Term Care Administrator that I am today.” He added, “The curriculum that is set forth in this College is exactly what one needs to understand the day to day operations of a long term care facility. I took my Nursing Home Administrators License Exam three months after graduation and almost immediately got a job in long term care and have been in this field for 26 years since graduation.”
