Drexel: FIRST Center Releases New Review of Workplace Violence Against First Responders

In partnership with the United States Fire Administration (USFA) and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), the Center for Firefighter Injury Research and Safety Trends (FIRST) at the Dornsife School of Public Health (DSPH) announces their newest manuscript entitled, “A Systematic Review of Workplace Violence Against Emergency Medical Services Responders” in NEW SOLUTIONS: A Journal of Environmental and Occupational Health Policy.

The systematic review builds on the findings of FIRST’s federal report titled “Mitigation of Occupational Violence to Firefighters and EMS Responders,” and brings that knowledge to the academic and scientific community.

The manuscript provides critical analysis of the existing literature and the need for more rigorous scientific research on the issue of workplace violence in emergency medical services. This review offers a focused agenda for occupational violence research that the authors believe will lead to greater understanding of the issue and more primary prevention opportunities.
