The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice held a conference call on August 10 for its members and public health professionals interested in learning more about the Council and its activities. The Council is a coalition of representatives from 20 national organizations that furthers academic and practice collaborations to ensure a well-trained, competent workforce and a strong, evidence-based public health infrastructure. Ms. Rachel Eisenstein, program manager, represented ASPPH on the call. Agenda topics included an update about the Academic Health Department Learning Community as well as the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals, an overview of the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) curriculum criteria revisions, and a discussion about upcoming activities and events.
