ASPPH Joins Faculty Development Workshop for Undergraduate Faculty Integrating Experiential Learning into Curriculum – Extended Deadline July 15, 2018

Experiential Learning, either at home or abroad, is a rich addition to undergraduate public health and global health programs. The ASPPH is joining forces with Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), Interamerican Center for Global Health, Child Family Health International, Allegheny College, and Abundance Foundation to convene a workshop from January 5-12, 2019 in Brunca, Costa Rica.  The target audience is faculty and program administrators who wish to expand their skills set and networking to successfully integrate experiential learning into undergraduate public health and global health courses and programs.

Successful integration of experiential learning draws on multiple fields including international development, risk management, international education, community engagement, and more.  This Faculty Development Workshop allows faculty and their administrative team members to gain essential ‘how-tos’ of integrating experiential learning experiences into coursework and programs.  This includes a broad set of topics including: logistical, financial, ethical, safety, assessment/evaluation, competency-based education and more.

Applications from faculty and/or administrators are due on the extended deadline of July 15, 2018.

The tuition cost – including all meals, accommodations, electronic/hard copy materials, didactics, community-based tours/interactions, transfers/transport during program content, medical/evacuation insurance, pre-departure preparation – is $1750 USD.  The tuition does not include flight/transportation to location, visas, or immunization.
