On Wednesday, May 22, Eduardo Ruiz, chief information officer (ASPPH), moderated an open townhall discussion at Interop on the role of technology in education. Interop is the world’s largest independent technology conference, with the education industry representing 10% of technology professional attendees from a diverse crowd of K-12, higher education, and education vendors. Townhall topics included how best to organize IT delivery at academic institutions, issues around student data privacy, social media fueling student anxiety and stress, and micro-credentials/competency-based training as a disrupter of traditional degree programs. As an Interop Review Board member, Eduardo hosted education networking events throughout the week and helped education peers navigate the conference, learn, and connect with each other.
